Each year we try to bring you a future star of the classical music world. Rising Stars presented in the past have gone on to great acclaim after appearing at our concerts.
Derek Wang is a New York-based pianist and communicator. In 2020 he launched a podcast series American Stories with violinist Sophia Stoyanovich. The series examines and celebrates American identity through music in performance. Derek won First Prize in the New York Liszt Competiton. He has performed in the Great Hall of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the rotunda of the Guggenheim Museum, Lehrman Hall at the Morgan Library and Museum.
