March 25, 2020: Zlatomir Fung Wins 2020 Avery Fisher Career Grant!
The Avery Fisher Artist Program announced that 20-year-old cellist ZLATOMIR FUNG* has been awarded a 2020 Avery Fisher Career Grant of $25,000. The program recognizes talented instrumentalists whom the Executive Committee determines have great potential for solo careers.
Mr. Fung captured the Gold Medal at the 2019 International Tchaikovsky Competition, the first U.S. cellist to do so in over thirty years. Has appeared as soloist with the Baltimore Chamber Orchestra, Boston Pops, Juilliard Orchestra conducted by Itzhak Perlman at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall, and Lausanne Sinfonietta in Switzerland.

June, 2019 TCHAIKOVSKY INTERNATIONAL CELLO COMPETITION in Moscow, Russia:
20-year-old ZLATOMIR FUNG* has won First Prize in the cello division at the 2019 Tchaikovsky Competition. First American in forty years to win the prize!
